FORTUNES

Daniel Iregui

When we were set to create a piece inspired by the random encounters that happen between our work and the audience we were impelled to explore that main invisible force that explains them all: luck. This five-part neighbourhood-scale installations invites visitors to play with their own shadows. Cameras placed in front of each monolith track human bodies thanks to AI and turn them into projections of shadows onto the LED monoliths that are drawn and redrawn by people’s unpredictable movement.

This combined with random generative software creates infinitely different living artworks that are never the same. With each monolith, we want to explore how luck is explained from 5 different perspectives. Each perspective forms one chapter and will guide the interaction of the audience and their influence on the sounds and graphics. The five chapters are: 1. Self Fulfilling Prophecy (Luck explained by Sociology) 2. Serendipity (Luck explained by Science) 3. Chaos Theory (Luck explained by Mathematics) 4. Synchronicity (Luck explained by Psychology) 5. Fate (Luck explained by Theology).
