Entangled

Bjørn Staal

Entangled is a cross-chain, generative art project consisting of 512 unique particle simulations distributed across two blockchains, each programmed to interact with counterparts on the opposite network in real time. The project translates the principles of quantum entanglement into a cross-chain artwork that connects the traditionally distinct Ethereum and Tezos generative art ecosystems through shared behavioural dynamics.

The visual language of Entangled draws from scientific visualisations, evoking the phosphorescent traces of oscilloscope displays, the geometric precision of Feynman diagrams, and speculative futures of classic science fiction. The particle systems are governed by algorithms rooted in physics simulations, incorporating reaction-diffusion and noise functions that generate organic, ever-shifting cloud formations reminiscent of plasma fields and electromagnetic phenomena. Each particle cloud exists in a state of constant flux, its form emerging from the interplay between mathematical precision and controlled randomness.

Beyond its pure online presence, Entangled has been translated into a large scale, kinetic sculpture specifically designed for the monumental space in which it is placed. Engineered to provide unrestricted mobility, the installation allows the arm to move a large scale, LED-panel around, behind and partially in front of a stationary panel mounted in front of the robot. While the front of the installation presents the primary visual experience, the work is designed to be encountered from multiple vantage points, with the rear view revealing the contrast between the raw machine aesthetics and intricate motion that orchestrates the synchronised movement
