The Moving Image Award

The Moving Image Award celebrates time-based digital works that explore narrative and non-narrative storytelling through animation, CGI, generative visuals, video art, machinima, and more.Whether AI-generated in real-time, drawn from reimagined game engines, or composed as experimental video essays, these works push the boundaries of motion, form, and meaning in the digital age.

Over the years, artists entering The Lumen Prize have traced personal and political geographies, examined the legacies of colonialism and migration, and redefined the language of narrative through code, interactivity, and abstraction. From urgent reflections on humanitarian crises to intimate studies of digital presence, these projects expand what moving image can be—and how it can move us.

It’s this spirit of innovation and provocation that led to the creation of the Moving Image Award: a category that honours those reimagining visual storytelling through digital media.

Meet the International Selectors Committee for the
Moving Image Award

This year’s Moving Image Award jury brings together collectors, curators, producers, strategists, and cultural leaders who are defining the future of time-based media—across blockchain ecosystems, international festivals, experimental institutions, and digital-native platforms.

Together, they bring a visionary understanding of how digital motion can move us—visually, emotionally, and culturally.

Please note: This list includes ISC members who have chosen to publicly share their involvement, while others remain anonymous or are still being confirmed.
