WORDS BEYOND WORDS is an infinitely regenerative poem – a bespoke generative language system – that explores, expresses and embodies the evolving dialogue between language and technology, author and algorithm. The heart (or brain) of the project is a layered codex of texts, from bespoke dataset and fine-tuned LLM to meticulous promptcraft and meta-poetic Processing source (c)ode – engineered to invoke an emergent AI poet and transform a simple browser window into a conceptual literary performance space. With each refresh, the autonomous poet consults its machinic muse, composes a new verse in real time, and scribes this raw text into a unique work of art via a dynamic palette of fonts, colors and stylistic choices. The outcome is an endlessly evolving folio of kinetic pages – visual, visceral verse – as artifacts of our extraordinary moment of creation transformation and hybrid imagination. Both inspired by and departing from age-old traditions of poetry and illuminated manuscripts, WORDS BEYOND WORDS goes beyond the use of technology to accompany or augment language; it converges text and technology into a previously unwritten/unwritable genre of transcendent linguistic expression. Premiered at Art Basel in June 2025, WORDS BEYOND WORDS continues my longstanding exploration of posthuman poetics and the evolution of language, offering a meditative space where logic and emotion, intention and intuition, intertwine – as they have always have in poetry.
