Antonín Kindl - OKO (Signal Calling 2025: PrusaLab & Signal Festival)
Antonín Kindl
Artwork Description:
OKO by Antonín Kindl is a machine loaded with sensations, continuously analyzing its immediate surroundings. Using computer vision and machine learning, it emulates a 'predictive' brain that incessantly processes, forecasts and simultaneously revises its internal model of the world. The work offers a space for observing perceptual phenomena while inviting reflection on the possibilities of machines' sensory cognition. The installation also touches on broader themes, such as the ubiquity of cameras, the transformation of privacy and the constant processing of data about us. The installation was created as the winning project of the Signal Calling 2025 in collaboration with prototyping workshop PrusaLab, which handled complete fabrication and provided technical support. Martin Štefánik created the sound component as a four-channel composition linked to the object’s current behaviour. OKO was first presented in a public space at Sady Svatopluka Čecha in Prague during the Signal Festival 2025.
Project Collaborators:
Signal Festival is a showcase of digital and creative culture that has been transforming Prague into a living gallery of contemporary art for 13 years. In 2025 alone, the festival welcomed over half a million visits, and over the course of its existence it has attracted millions of people from the Czech Republic and abroad. The programme features leading international and Czech artists working in light design, visual and digital art, artificial intelligence and conceptual art. Signal consistently connects the historic setting of Prague with the latest technologies and current social themes, placing emphasis not only on powerful experiences but also on education. PrusaLab is the prototyping workshop of Josef Průša and Prusa Research. We support individuals, project teams, and companies in product development and prototyping. Backed by a large company and a team of experts, we offer consulting, acceleration packages, and access to a wide ecosystem of technologies.
