PARADE Collective

Artwork Description:

PARADE is a radically open, participatory web-based artwork that enacts an endless virtual procession of voices. Rooted in a growing archive of vocal expressions, it invites the global public to join as Co-Creators, contributing human voices in any language or form to a living sonic commons. The work unfolds through two accessible browser-based experiences: Procession, a geo-based WebAR encounter for mobile, and Spatial Archive, an immersive 3D web environment for desktop. Through spatial audio, voices do not appear as static files; they approach, recede, cluster, and disperse around the listener, transforming listening into a bodily encounter with plurality. Conceived amid an era of interwoven global fracture, PARADE does not seek resolution or a synthesized harmony. Instead, it stages a gesture of absurdist resilience: a collective insistence on being heard, even when unity emerges through dissonance, friction, and chaos. Within this procession, no single narrative dominates. Voices are not ranked by popularity, virality, or engagement, establishing an anti-ranking aesthetic that refuses algorithmic priority as a substitute for truth. By preserving the raw voice—its breaths, hesitations, glottal stops, and emotional grain—PARADE resists technological flattening and synthetic smoothness. It asks whether the shared persistence of dissonance might constitute a solidarity deeper than consensus.

Project Collaborators:
