Light Architecture

Artwork Description:

Light Architecture constructs a critique of the most opaque technological system of our time: the AI 'Black Box.' The more prolific the generative output, the more unfathomable the system. This installation reconfigures this abstract structure into a visceral experience, simulating AI's operational logic through a massive kinetic installation to confront the hidden mechanics governing human life. Structural processes are integral to the work’s form. Composed of modular units I call 'Neural Pods,' the installation functions as a vast, interconnected system. Its circular topography mimics both a deep learning model and the convoluted human cerebral cortex. By superimposing biological structure onto algorithmic design, it visualizes the dissolving boundary between organic and artificial intelligence. Kinetic neurons orchestrate complex networks, generating dynamic light patterns to visualize the mechanical logic concealed behind AI’s sleek interfaces. Crucially, the work posits that comprehending these invisible systems is a prerequisite for humanity’s co-evolution with technology. To embody the logic of AI, the artwork itself is constructed as a complex system. Amplified by ceiling projection and immersive audio, the 150cm-scale Neural Pods create a volume comparable to the human body. Navigating these structures, audiences feel dissolved into data fragments. Throughout the experience, the installation continually oscillates between blinding light and deep darkness. This fluctuation interrogates the dual nature of AI—whether it represents progress or regression—ultimately suggesting that the agency to define this trajectory lies with us. Light Architecture asks: are we the architects of this future, or merely data processing within its infinite loops?
