In partnership with a16z, Lumen Prize was proud to host it’s third Art Fare Dinner with Lumen Artist, Gretchen Andrew.
Gretchen, a 2025 Lumen Prize Finalist for Facetune Portrait – Universal Beauty, Nigeria (gown), celebrated her recognition with a unique, interactive gesture. Each guest received a custom napkin featuring hand-drawn lips and a space for their name, along with a complimentary Charlotte Tilbury lipstick. Guests were invited to kiss the napkin where the lip outline was, echoing the themes of her Facetune series, which explores the tension between our real selves and AI-driven beauty ideals.

Facetune Portraits use custom robotics 🤖 to physically apply popular “beautifying” AI 👄 into oil paintings 🎨. The resulting Facetune Portraits reveal the tension between who we are and who AI and algorithms say we should be. We see the the homogenizing impact across cultures.
