RITES
Alida Sun
Artwork Description:
RITES is a solo exhibition by Alida Sun that reclaims women’s erased computational heritage through code, ritual, embroidery, and care. Rooted in Sun's ritual code art practice of over 2,500 days and counting, the works translate hand coded custom software into mirror work tapestries embroidered with women at SSMI (Swami Sivananda Institute of Fine Arts and Crafts), turning technology into solidarity and livelihood. Integrating embodied light and movement-generated audiovisual data with protective heritage algorithms, each piece becomes an abstract human–machine portrait and encrypted sigil, re-imagining technology as a system for collective cross-cultural creation and resistance.
