The Logico-Fantastic Machine (LFM) is a cybernetic ecology composed of a robotics apparatus and an agentic AI framework that continuously generates divergent audiovisual narratives. LFM operates not only as an autonomous system, but as a methodological construct through which the conditions for machine creativity are enacted, observed, and recalibrated. At the core of this work lies a network of interdependent agents, each performing distinct functions that sustain the assemblage's operation. A distributed sensing network extracts environmental stimuli (spatial & design features, affective properties, depth maps), which are translated into prompt settings that drive the generative variations. Agents contribute to content creation, analytical assessment, and parameter configurations, enabling continuous adaptation of the system's behavior. The installation includes multiple displays to visualize outputs, datasets, metrics, and the analytical processes of the ecology's layers. The project draws inspiration from Italo Calvino’s lecture Cybernetics and Ghosts, in which he imagines a machine capable of creating infinite stories while remaining haunted by human ingenuity. In LFM, this tension unfolds in practice as it develops an emergent vocabulary shaped by data, algorithms, and divergence strategies. Rather than optimizing toward convergence, it combines inputs and feedback responses to reconfigure production conditions and steer the generative methods for increasingly unfamiliar compositional configurations. With each loop, the process introduces distortions, amplifications, and misalignments, allowing it to drift beyond its initial constraints and push the limits of synthetic imagination. LFM operates as a multi-layered, open-ended system that continuously senses, analyzes, evaluates, and reshapes its own evolving ontology.
